Dermabond skin glue

DERMABOND is an advanced skin adhesive that can be used as an alternative to sutures to close a wound. BENEFITS

HOW TO APPLY?

• Ensure proper cleaning and disinfection of the wound
• Break the Dermabond ampoule by squeezing hard between your thumb and index finger - now you only have a few minutes left to apply!
• Make sure the wound edges meet well (in a horizontal position)
• Apply a first coat and let it dry for 30 seconds
• Apply a second layer , let it dry for 30 seconds and hold the wound edges together for another 60 seconds
• Finished!

With 1 ampoule of 0.36 ml you can close a wound up to about 4 cm long . After 5 minutes a compress/bandage may be applied to protect the wound against shocks or scratching by the patient. DEEP WOUND?

• If the wound is too deep, a subcutaneous suture is additionally required before superficial closure (just like with complete closure with sutures)
• The intention is not to let the wound glue seep into the wound , only to apply it superficially

MOIST OR DIRTY WOUND?

• This is a contraindication for Dermabond
