Rheumatism
What is rheumatism?
Rheumatism is the collective name (and not an exact unambiguous medical term) of more than one hundred, some even speak of two hundred different disorders of the posture and locomotor apparatus. The rheumatoid arthritis disorder is often abbreviated as "rheumatism", but this is actually not correct. There are a whole range of rheumatic syndromes. A correct and specific diagnosis is absolutely necessary to establish effective therapy. The diagnosis is made based on the patient's story and the complaints. In addition to extensive physical examinations, different types of blood tests, X-rays and other examinations may be needed to determine which type of rheumatic disease is involved and which treatment is most suitable for this. Every disease requires an individual approach because there are always very different forms of appearance and evolution.
A rheumatological disorder can exist from birth. Cases are added every year. More people are affected by rheumatism in old age.
