People with dementia in the third and fourth phase can become very drawn to themselves; this makes it difficult to reach them. One way to get in touch is by stimulating the senses such as the sense of touch. This can be achieved in an accessible manner through the use of a feeler sleeve.

Snoezel hand rolls are aimed at sensor-motor stimulation. Stroking, pinching, pressing colorful ribbons, buttons, soft and rough patches of fabric makes people with dementia calmer but also stimulates their senses so that they remain more alert.
